The House System

The House System

All girls at St Mary’s belong to one of four Houses.  Allegiance to Houses is strong and girls compete in a spirit of friendly rivalry to ensure that the best House wins each year!  This might be in interhouse competitions such as netball, swimming, rounders, debating and public speaking or science.  The Houses are also the basis of our Charity fundraising work.  Girls at St Mary’s realise how privileged they are, and therefore acknowledge also their responsibility to others. In Prep, the four Houses are Goldfinch, Kingfisher, Robin and Woodpecker, whilst in Senior House girls belong to Butler, Kirk. Latham or Temple West; all names associated with important figures in the History of the School.
