St Mary's Association (SMA)
The SMA's main priority is to organise enjoyable social events for the girls and their families, to raise funds for the school and for local charities. In 2009 we raised £20,000 to help purchase equipment for our new sports hall, a great new addition for all pupils. We achieved this via a number of different events.

The annual Frost Fair in November had a wide variety of stalls, both from our classes and from outside stallholders. Santa's grotto was very popular as were the delicious homemade soup and turkey baps.
The Middle School discos, held in Autumn, Spring and Summer were well attended and we welcomed pupils from nearby Thorpe House too.
Our 'Secret Event' - a Mothers' Day Sale in February for girls from Nursery to Year 7 was our best yet and the Easter Egg Hunt for Junior House girls in March caused great excitement. Everyone managed to find an egg for themselves and we also gave eggs to every girl in Senior House too, so no-one was forgotten. |

Our Fun Day was held in June and we had a lovely sunny day. The variety of stalls and activities were enjoyed by everyone. We had a hoopla Wii competition and a visit from baby animals from a local farm, including some lovely Shetland ponies, baby goats and ducklings. |
 |
The James Bond Casino and Dance evening was great fun too. Guests came dressed as characters from James Bond and we had several casino tables where everyone could try their luck.

Old Girls’ Association
St. Mary’s School has been in existence for more than 100 years and moved to its present site in Gerrards Cross in the 1930s. The SMS Old Girls’ Association, made up of over 400 former pupils and staff, celebrates the history of the school, but also serves as a focal point of contact for its members.
Old girls range in age from school leavers to eighty-plus. Some are retired, but most are carrying out a wide range of work outside the home, whilst others are bringing up children.

We meet up for an annual lunch, which is always a fun event, with a buffet and live music (OG’s partners and children are also welcome). Here, members can renew past friendships and meet OGs from different generations. Each year the current Headmistress gives a short talk, keeping us up to date with the changes at St. Mary’s (and there have been many!). After lunch, we are free to wander through the classrooms and bring back some forgotten memories.
We are also looking at holding some ‘decade’ reunions, bringing together all those who left in the nineties or noughties, for example. |

We produce an annual newsletter, called, ‘The Oldies’, which contains brief details of all OGs who wish to provide information about themselves, as well as news from present-day St. Mary’s and articles by and about past pupils and teachers. Last year’s issue included contributions recalling St. Mary’s in the 1950s and 1960s, tales of life in Australia from an OG working for Price Waterhouse Coopers and an account by one of our youngest members of her experiences as a student teacher in South Africa. This year's issue can be downloaded by clicking on the image on the right
St. Mary’s is a special place and we hope that you have come to feel affection for it too.
