Tsunami relief
Senior House and parents held several fundraising events whilst a sponsored 'X Factor' event provided the girls with a chance to display their performing skills and help raise a significant amount of money for the relief fund at the same time.
Children in Need
St. Mary’s regularly supports the Children in Need charity. One year, Butler house organised a fancy dress competition and we were treated to year 6 in pyjamas, the Sixth Form coming in en masse as pirates, and the staff, who walked into assembly dressed as wise owls, complete with face masks!
Dreamflight
This is a charity which raises money for terminally ill children to have the holiday of a lifetime. Year 8 organised a themed ‘Disney’ non-uniform day and held a delicious cake sale at break time.
In the Pink
Usually we have a ‘wear a pink top’ day in support of this breast cancer research charity, but recently we went one better by also having a pink Rolls Royce on site.
Others
Other charities which have benefited from events at St. Mary’s include Jeans for Genes, Macmillan Nurses, NSPCC, Red Nose Day, memorial poppies, the sale of Christmas stars and the filling of aqua boxes. |
