Celebrations all round as girls open GCSE results

Celebrations all round as girls open GCSE results

What a delight to see the smiling faces of our St Mary’s girls this morning as they opened their GCSE results. All of our girls once again achieved those crucial A* – C grades in six or more subjects. Over 50% of the girls achieved A* – B in at least 6 subjects and more than two thirds of the results were graded A* – B.  There were success stories across the board but particular congratulations to the History department who took the decision to move to IGCSE this year and achieved 75% A*/A.  Additionally,  English, Biology,  Religious Studies, Food Technology and Art and Design recorded more than 70% of all papers at A* – B grades. Congratulations to those girls who achieved straight A* and A grades in their subjects, and also to those who worked hard to achieve results far above their expectations.  Mrs Ross, the Headmistress commented, “I am so pleased for our girls.  They worked really hard and remained focused throughout their GCSE studies.  I am delighted to see their commitment and determination being so amply rewarded.  Congratulations also to my very talented and dedicated team of teachers for whom this is equally a fitting tribute.”

Girls celebrate excellent A level results

Girls celebrate excellent A level results

Many congratulations to all of our Year 13s who achieved a very impressive set of A-Level results. With a 100% pass rate (A* – E) and 82% of results graded at A* to C there was good cause for celebration. 62% of the overall grades were A*- B and nearly half of all the girls gained A* – B grades for all of their subjects. French, German, Art and Design and Physics all recorded 100% A* – B grades. The girls are now looking forward to going to a wide range of universities such as UCL, Exeter, Bristol, Birmingham, University of Arts London, Oxford Brookes, and York, reading a very diverse range of subjects including Pharmacology, History of Art, Architecture, Creative Advertising and Biochemistry.

The Extended Project Qualification results continued the success of previous years with all projects again being awarded A* or A.

AS Level results were also very strong with 77% graded A – B. Particular congratulations to our Year 9 and 10 girls who sat AS papers and all achieved A or B grades.
